FILM COMPARISON

SOLAR GARD vs. 3M

All product lines of both Solar Gard and 3M have similar product performance ratings as established by the International Window Film Association. However, 3M film is much more expensive to the dealer. Therefore the dealer must pass that cost onto the customer resulting in a higher retail cost.

Solar Gard takes advantage of fully metalized and nano-ceramic technologies to provide a cooler and more comfortable living space at a reasonable retail cost.

SOLAR GARD vs. LLUMAR

LLumar uses a triple laminated process with nano-ceramic in the middle layer. Delamination and bubbling are on-going concerns. Solar Gard's  Architectural film line uses a 1 piece  2 mil polyethylene / polyurethane blend metatlized by a patented sputtering process. Sputtering in a state of the art technology utilizing molecules of proprietary metals imbedded in to the film without the use of dyes.

SOLAR GARD vs Suntek / Madico

The dominate market share that Suntek has is in the automotive sector. Suntek makes an excellent nano-ceramic window film for vehicles. However, ceramic is not the best choice for residential or commercial applications. Due to the different compositions of annealed (flat glass windows) and injected molded glass (auto glass) , ceramic only offers a 50% to 60% Total Solar Rejection.

However, Solar Gard's architectural film line with Sputter technology offers customers a Total Solar Rejection of 64% to 79% resulting in a temperature reduction of 6 to 10 degrees. Also, Suntek has recently been bought out by Madico Films, Ltd. Madico has had a host of problems over the decades including delamination, peeling and bubbling caused by adhesive failure. Madico has lost much of their market share world-wide.
